Thandi Lujabe-Rankoe was an ANC leader during the struggle against apartheid in Tanzania, Zambia, Egypt, Nigeria, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Then between 1988 and and 1994 she represented the ANC in Norway where she hosted Madiba when he won the Nobel Peace Prize. After 1994 she was the South African ambassador to Tanzania and then Mozambique. She attended both my lecture and launch, and Joanie and I were privileged to spend time with her in Johannesburg.
